Vivo Y19s Faces Criticism in Pakistan: Users Question the Price-to-Performance Ratio

Vivo’s latest budget smartphone, the Vivo Y19s, launched in Pakistan a month ago, has sparked a heated debate among users who believe the phone is overpriced for its specifications.

Despite Vivo’s attempt to offer a semi-rugged design at an affordable price, the Rs 38,999 starting tag for the 4 GB + 128 GB model, and Rs 42,999 for the 6 GB + 128 GB variant, has left buyers underwhelmed.

Key Concerns Raised by Users

Camera and Display Issues

  • The 5 MP selfie camera is seen as inadequate for a phone in this price range, with users demanding better options.
  • While the 6.68” screen boasts a 90Hz refresh rate, the HD+ 720p resolution is a major drawback. Buyers in this segment expect at least a 1080p FHD+ resolution for sharper visuals.

Battery and Charging

  • The 5500mAh battery is commendable, but the 15W charging support is far from ideal. Users report that it takes hours to fully charge, especially when compared to competitors like Tecno and Infinix, which offer 33W fast charging or more at similar prices.

Performance and Chipset

  • Powered by the Unisoc T612 chip, the Vivo Y19s struggles to keep up with competitors. Phones like Infinix Hot 40 feature superior chipsets such as the Helio G85 or Helio G88, which deliver better performance and smoother user experiences.

Is the Price Justified?

Users believe the Vivo Y19s is overpriced and suggest a more appropriate price tag of Rs 20,000 or slightly above based on its specifications. The general consensus is that Vivo has failed to offer value for money, especially when rival brands provide better RAM, storage, and overall features in the same price range.

What Works for the Y19s?

Despite the criticism, the Vivo Y19s has a few standout features, including:

  • Military-grade SGS Five Star drop resistance, ensuring durability.
  • An IP64 rating, making it dustproof and waterproof, ideal for users seeking a semi-rugged design.

Looking Ahead

Vivo aims to target budget-conscious buyers with its 2024 lineup of budget phones. While the Y19s has some merits, users are encouraged to explore Vivo’s other offerings that combine value and performance at competitive prices.
