The Nothing Phone 3a and Nothing Phone 3a Pro, midrange smartphones launched earlier this year with Android 15 and NothingOS 3.1, are now receiving a major software update. The latest NothingOS update introduces multiple camera improvements, a new Privacy Space feature, and expanded support for accessories like CMF Buds 2, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to innovation and user privacy.
As announced in a series of posts on X, Nothing has added 4K video recording capabilities at 30fps using the telephoto and periscope cameras. On the Nothing Phone 3a, recording at 2x zoom now activates the telephoto lens, while the Phone 3a Pro switches to the periscope telephoto lens at 3x zoom.
Additional camera upgrades include reduced flicker in slo-mo and zoom videos, improved low-light telephoto shots, support for filters on 50-megapixel images, and clearer night photography under artificial lighting. Selfies have also been enhanced with better skin detail and colour balance.
Another highlight of the update is the all-new Privacy Space, accessible by swiping right in the app drawer. It enables users to secure sensitive apps and data using separate passwords from the App Locker. Also added is a Hotspot Manager feature, allowing users to monitor who’s connected to their personal network.
The Nothing X app now features a more fluid and immersive UI and includes full support for the CMF Buds 2 series. This update also improves general stability and resolves existing bug fixes, ensuring a smoother user experience across both devices.
With three years of Android updates and six years of security patches promised, Nothing continues to offer premium features in its Nothing Phone 3a series, enhancing performance, privacy, and photography.
