Samsung is reportedly working on a new tri-fold device, set to rival the Huawei Mate XT in the foldable smartphone market. This innovative device will feature an under-screen front camera, but disappointing news has emerged regarding its charging speeds. Leaked reports suggest that the Galaxy Tri-fold will be equipped with a maximum 25W charging, which many tech enthusiasts find underwhelming for such a groundbreaking product.
While Samsung once led the charge in smartphone innovation, the company seems to be lagging behind in terms of charging technology. Chinese companies like Xiaomi have pushed the boundaries with devices supporting up to 90W wired charging, and even 80W wireless charging. In comparison, Samsung’s 25W charging may not meet expectations, particularly for a flagship foldable device, and the 23W to 24W peak rating mentioned by the leaker further adds to concerns.

Details about the device’s battery remain scarce, leaving questions about whether 25W charging will be sufficient for an average user. Despite this, the Galaxy Tri-fold is expected to demand a high price tag, with estimates reaching $2000. Early reports suggest that initial production will be limited, indicating Samsung may not expect high sales from this niche product.
In addition to the charging speed concerns, some details about the camera are also emerging, with a potential under-display camera being speculated. However, no solid information has been confirmed.
Samsung is also rumored to be working on a more affordable Galaxy Fold SE, which could launch alongside or shortly after the Tri-fold, offering a less expensive option for foldable phone enthusiasts.
As Samsung continues to innovate in the foldable smartphone market, the Galaxy Tri-fold will likely be a premium product that attracts early adopters despite some challenges, such as its slow charging speeds.
