Meta AI Home Screen Widget
The upcoming Meta AI widget is designed to be an interactive tool, offering two primary functions:
- Ask Anything: Users can tap the left side of the widget to ask questions directly to Meta AI, leveraging its conversational capabilities.
- Photo Integration: By tapping the right side, users can share photos with the AI for instant interaction. The AI can then edit the photo, explain its contents, or answer queries related to the image.

The widget will be available only to select users in specific countries where Meta AI access is already granted. While it won’t be accessible to everyone at launch, it marks a significant step in integrating AI-enhanced interactions into WhatsApp.
New AI Chats Tab
In addition to the widget, WhatsApp is testing a dedicated AI chats tab in the bottom navigation bar. This feature aims to streamline AI-powered conversations, making it easier for users to interact with Meta AI seamlessly within the app.
Beta Testing and Rollout Timeline
Both the Meta AI widget and the AI chats tab are currently in beta testing, with no confirmed date for a global rollout. Depending on user feedback and system stability, these features may take weeks or even months to reach all eligible users.
What This Means for Users
These updates are part of WhatsApp’s broader initiative to integrate AI-driven tools into its platform, providing users with smarter and more intuitive ways to communicate and engage with their content. From photo editing to contextual explanations, the features promise to transform how users interact with the app.
